When should you call a professional roofer?

Six signs that the problem is past DIY. Catching these early saves thousands, the difference between a repair and a full replacement.

  • Active dripping from ceilings, light fixtures, or vents

    Water inside means the problem started weeks or months ago. Don't wait for the next storm.

  • Sagging or dipping rooflines

    Structural or decking failure. Could be rot or framing. Not a DIY diagnosis.

  • Shingle granules in gutters or downspouts

    Shingles are shedding protective layer. Maintenance heads-up or replacement warning.

  • Multiple shingles or tiles displaced after a storm

    Wind has broken the adhesive bond even on intact-looking ones. Pro assessment, repair or claim?

  • Visible daylight through attic sheathing

    Open gaps mean water path. Pinholes grow into leaks. Fix before the next rain.

  • Roof over 20 years old and no inspection in 5+ years

    San Diego asphalt shingles often fall short of their published lifespan in our microclimates. Some insurers ask for an inspection at renewal; check with your carrier.
